Warmest wishes for 2011!
With the holidays behind us, I need to lighten up. So I have seized the opportunity to start the year off right by beginning my diet on the quintessentially cliche January 1st. If it’s your plan to do the same [and with me to suffer along with you] let’s start off the new year together with some skinnier recipes. You can find them here… that is, until my jeans once again slip effortlessly over my bum. I will be sipping this spritzer as a way to stay hydrated without the constant reminder that pounding water all day brings. This light and bright beverage sends a message that we are treating ourselves well rather than living in deprivation.
Seasonal Skinny Spritzer:
juice of 4 blood oranges and a dozen Meyer lemons + 1/4 cup Truvia or Splenda granules
3 bottles Pellegrino or sparkling water of your choice.
Keep the juice mixture in an airtight pitcher in the fridge. To enjoy – pour approx 1 1/2 inches of sweetened juice in bottom of tall glass and fill to top with sparkling water (If you combine in advance, your beverage will lose its bubbles).

Best of luck to you! I know how hard it is, but like you said you’ve done it before, you can do it again
Wishing you a great healthy start to the New Year, and may you quickly achieve all your goals!
Beautiful pic, and the spritzer looks delicious!
I’m totally in this with you! Keep posting recipes and I’ll keep trying them. I’ve gained the same amount since being with Lee, so I really need to feel better and take that extra off. Let’s do it!
Kelley! Yes, it’s our husband’s fault -haha
Rachel, Rachel, Rachel…and I think I’ve known you for at least 700 of those pounds you’ve lost over the years…I’m right there too, need to lose 30 pounds. Started yesterday. Went into WW’s to find they changed their darn “points” and while I’m not sold on “learning” a new way to do this weight loss thang, it did work last time and now I can eat unlimited fruit so yeah me..I mean yeah fruit! I’m going to do this spritzer too since fruit is zero points and I always wondered what the heck to do with blood oranges…thanks chica!
Now ya know Shari, I used to pride myself on factoring in an entire bottle of wine’s WW points as to have fun while not going over my points. It’s all about the planning!
